Certification Traceable to NIST Standards Available on all Tank Gauging Tapes
Four Tape Testing procedures are available for Tank Gauging Tapes
- DIRECT - Certified against an NIST Certified Master Tank Gauging tape and recommended for new tapes used for Custody Transfer. This is a one foot incremental certification.
- INDIRECT - Certified against a Master Tape that has been certified from an NIST Master Tape and recommended for general tape use.
- TESTED - Certified against an indirect Master for older working tapes used for taking stock inventory. This test is used to confirm the accuracy of a certified or a tape that has been used over a period of time. Tested in five places.
- INSPECTED - Used for a tape that is cleaned, mounted on a fixture and found not worth the cost of full certification. Tested in two places.
- Note: The Bob is serialized to match the tank gauging tape serial number and is not transferable to another tape.

 Lil Joe Line Wiper
The Lil’ Joe tape wiper attaches easily to oil gauging tapes and wipes oil from both the front and back surfaces of the tape. “Trigger action” controls the pressure of the rubber rollers on the tape itself.

Outage or Inage Gauging Tape ?
Outage vs. Inage Gauging Tapes? An outage tape is used to measure the distance from the top of a liquid in a tank to the top of the tank, or the part of the tank NOT filled with liquid. An inage tape is simply lowered into a tank until the tip of the plumb bob touches the bottom of the tank - usually resting on a datum plate.
